Leap Year Baby

Well, I went to the doctor today and I guess my body just doesn't want to have this baby. The baby is still really high, and I am hardly dilated. So, we have a C-Section scheduled for Friday morning at 10:30 am. So Brooks Frederick Owens will be born on a leap year. We decided we will celebrate his birthday on March 1st, except every 4 years when he will actually have a birthday. I think it is going to be something unique that he will have. So this weekend I will try to post some pictures of the new bundle of joy. Love all of you, and we will talk to you soon.

39 Weeks!!!!

Well everyone I am still here. Here is a picture of my massive stomach.

I had my baby shower Saturday, and it was so much fun! The food was great, and a lot of people came. It was wonderful to have such loving sisters in the ward. I didn't even know the names of some of the women that came. I got so many cute things! Allison had made it a scrapbooking theme since she knew I loved to scrapbook but don't have a lot of money. I got some really great things to use to start my scrapbook for Brooks.

I went to the laundrymat afterwards, and by the end I was feeling pretty sore from bending down to get laundry out of the bottom dryers, and hauling the laundry back to the car. Cameron and I then went to Wal-Mart to do some grocery shopping, and my back was hurting so bad I could barely walk. I then started to have contractions. They were pretty regular, but didn't have much behind them. I had them for about two hours, and I decided to call the doctor. She told me that she wanted them to gain a little intensity before I came in to the hospital. I thought for sure that this was it. Well about a half an hour after the phone call they started to taper off. I was so dissapointed. Well Sunday I decided to go for a really long walk around the neighborhood. Of course I tried to walk myself into the ground in the hopes that it would trigger labor. Unfortunately it did not. I woke up about 4:00am with contractions again. About 5:00am I was still having them, but once again they weren't that bad. I decided to go back to sleep, and if it really was labor then I was sure I would wake up when they got intense. Well I woke up about 8:30am to nothing. So once again I am dissapointed.

We want to schedule our C-Section for this Friday if there is an opening at the hospital. It just seems to be the best at this point. I am hoping that at my doctor's appointment tomorrow I will be almost ready to go, so that I might have this baby before the weekend.

We will keep you posted.

So Close!!!!

Hey everyone,

Well I decided to leave this template here for now. I have had the worst two weeks. As you all know I got a sinus infection, and Sunday I was feeling pretty good so I went to church. On Monday, I woke up just feeling sick. Cameron was home that day due to it being President's Day so he went and did my laundry (Lucky guy). While he was gone I just got worse. I finally called him and told him he needed to come home. By the time he got home, I was in the bathroom full-time. I called my doctor's office and they told me if I couldn't keep any fluids down that I needed to come in to the hospital. I ate a banana and some water. Couldn't even keep that down, so off to the hospital I went. I was there for half of the day so they could give me fluids. They also gave me this amazing but horribly painful shot right in my rear. It helped with the nausea soooo much. So now that it is Friday, I feel pretty good. I do have some horrible heartburn, but I will take that over anything I have had the past couple of weeks.

I went to my doctor's appointment yesterday. The weather here is absolutely horrible. It took me twice as long to get to my doctor. So I got in excited at the prospect of being dilated and getting ready to go. Unfortunately, the doctor told me that I was a fingertip dilated. Ooohhhh! Big whoop-dee-doo. I am a little disappointed, but I still could do it. They are going to schedule a C-Section next Tuesday for me. Then if I have the baby before then great, if not then at least I will have a date that I will be able to finally see this baby boy.

I have another baby shower tomorrow at my friend Allison's home. I am excited to go and be with friends. I am appreciative of the friends that I have in the ward. I don't think there will be many there, but that's okay. Well, I am sorry I don't have more exciting things to post. We will let you know if anything changes.

The Crud

Well, we can't get rid of the crud that is circulating our house. Cameron was the first one to get sick. He never gets sick, so since he never gets sick and he is a man he was especially whiny. After Cam got better, Emma got sick. Poor girl had to go to the doctor on her birthday. So now that she is better, I got sick. And of course I have recieved the worst of it. I have one of the worst sinus infections EVER! I am in so much pain. It hurts to even eat, cough, blow my nose, sleep. You name it, and it hurts. It is now starting to travel to my chest, and I am developing a cough. I have a doctor's appointment today, so I am going to beg and plead for them to give me anything to help. I need to get better before this baby decides to enter the world. So everyone wish me luck.

I went to the doctor yesterday. They did an ultrasound, and they estimate that the baby is around 7lbs 11 ounces. So the baby is already a pretty good size. They also checked me, and I am not dilated a bit. I was a little bummed by that but like I said before, I need to get better first. They gave me a couple of ultrasound pictures, and there is one picture in particular that leaves no doubt in anyone's mind what sex the baby is. The ultrasound tech was impressed by our little boy. I am sure that Cam is secretly proud himself.

I have had a really bad case of nesting, but have been so sick I can't act on it. It is driving me crazy. I just want everything to be perfect. Anyone want to volunteer to be my slave for awhile?
I have also been very interested in watching a Baby Story and Bringing Home Baby on TLC. I seriously tear up when I see their little babies enter the world. I am so excited for that to be me.

I hve put some more pictures on Flickr, and don't forget to take my poll. See you all later.

Emma's Birthday

Well Tuesday was Emma's 2nd birthday. It was an interesting day since we had to go to the doctor. Emma has had a nasty cough, and I had to take her in to get it checked out. We had some friends come over for dinner, and then cake and ice cream. I did a little too much though, and when all was said and done I was on the couch with aches and pains. I need to learn that when you are nine months pregnant, you order pizza. I also made my first stab at decorating a cake. It didn't turn out too well, but I had little time and patience that day. Emma got some great gifts, and I am grateful for friends to help share in celebrations.

I must say that I am a little dissapointed about Mitt Romney dropping out of the race. He wasn't able to pull out the votes he needed and I really thought he would make a good candidate. I am not quite sure at this point who I am going to vote for now. I have been trying to be more dilligent in trying to read what each candidate's platform is, and what they are going to do as president.

Saturday all of my friends and family got together and threw me a baby shower. I was able to participate through webcam. It was a little awkward since I couldn't really hear the conversation very well. I got some really cute things, and I am grateful to know so many great people. My Sister-In-Law stuffed a pillow up her shirt, and put on a play crown and pretended to be me as she opened my gifts. It was fun. I have some friends here in Missouri that are going to throw me a shower on Feburary 23rd. Part of me hopes I make it until then, but there is a part of me that wants to have this over quickly.

We will keep you all posted, and we have phone numbers in case the baby comes soon.

So on Thursday night we had a monster snow storm come through. We got about 9 inches. So we have now seen snow twice since we have been here. I really hate the snow. It was so pretty on Friday morning when we woke up, but it started to melt on Friday, and now everything is just one big slushy mess. It took Cameron an hour to shovel our driveway and walk. Last night it was raining, and today it was really foggy. So as of now our snow is almost gone.

Saturday was an interesting day for me. Saturday is laundry day, and I am generally the only white person in the place. Well it was really busy on Saturday, and I was waiting for a dryer. I finally got one dryer for my 5 loads of laundry, but I was finally finishing up and noticed that there was a lady waiting for a dryer. I asked her if she wanted my dryer, and she said yes. So she was about to put her stuff in the dryer, and some lady came out of nowhere and started throwing her stuff in the dryer even before I could get my stuff out. I looked at her and told her that this lady was waiting. She responded by saying, "I don't care if she needs a dryer, I need six, and I don't have a problem beating anyone down." I just looked at the other lady, shrugged and walked away. The two ladies then started having a serious argument as to who should get the dryer.

Pretty soon, the cops came into the laundry mat. The one lady who made the comment earlier told the cops, "That white girl thinks that she can give her dryer to anyone she wants." She then started yelling at the cops that this is a first come first serve, yada yada. Anyways the police officer asked me what happened. I told him, and the other lady was still really upset, so he told her that he would have not problems taking her in for disturbing the peace. So drama at the laundry mat.

Last night we were invited to a super bowl party. It was fun. We had taco soup, salad, veggies, and all the chips and pop we could handle. The commercials just weren't that great this year. Anyway's our friend Nick is a big Patriots fan, and so he was more into the game then I think the rest of us were. I wanted the giants to win, because Eli Manning looks like a nice guy, and I don't like Tom Brady. Anyways, at least it was a good game. Giants won, and I went home extremely full of food. So thanks to the Miller family for inviting us over.
