Easter

I hope that everyone's Easter was great. We had a fun time at our house over the weekend. Saturday we had a little egg hunt with Emma in our backyard. She loved finding the eggs and putting them in her basket. After we were done she wanted to do it again. That night we colored Easter eggs, and Emma wanted to drink the dye. She kept trying to find ways to put it in her mouth. We had fun doing that and putting the stickers on the eggs. Sunday morning she was very excited about her Easter basket. The first thing she did was stuff two rolos into her mouth wrapper and all. We bought 101 Dalmations for her, and she seems to like it. We had the opportunity to go over to some friends for a small lunch. It was very tasty, and it was fun to meet some new people. Emma also had a very fun time playing with all of the children. I couldn't convince Cameron to watch the Ten Commandments, but all in all it was a great weekend.

Random stuff

Hello everyone!

Well, I had a wonderful time with my sister Nicole when she was here. She left her four kids, and came here for 3 days to take care of me. She had no idea what to do with herself while she was here. She was so used to taking care of four kids, that taking care of two wasn't so difficult. She helped so much. She mopped my floors, played with Emma, and cooked. She also helped me stay fat by making these super yummy rice crispy things. They are rice crispies and peanut butter, and butterscotch and milk chocolate chips melted on the top. Sooooooo good. I was incredibly sad to see her go. I don't get to see my family much, so it is always sad to see them go.

While my Nicole was here, we went to the arch. She convinced me to go up to the top. I can't believe that I did it. You are in the tiniest car, and as you are going up, they have to adjust your car since you are going on a curve. so you car is moving, and you can't see out at all. Then, when you get to the top, you can feel it sway. I don't think that I will do it again.

I am excited for Easter. We are going to do an Easter egg hunt for Emma, and Grandma and Grandpa Bean and Aunt Lynsey bought some things for Emma and Brooks for Easter. She of course gets spoiled. I will be sure and post some more pictures soon. I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter. And for those of you in Arizona, enjoy the Easter pageant.

Brooks' cool new digs.

Still need to put some finishing touches to his room like some things on the wall and maybe an area rug. My sister made this super cute bedding for me. Don't you love it? The things you can do with a sewing machine.

Can you say "Sleep Deprived?"

I am so tired that I don't even know if I was supposed to put quotation marks around that remark. Things are so up in the air right now, that Cam and I forgot it was our 8th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. We will just have to make up for it next year. I am still holding out for a cruise for our 10th wedding anniversary.

One thing I do have to say is that breastfeeding is difficult. Something that millions of women have done over so many years, one would think that it would come naturally and smoothly. Maybe for some that is how it happens, but for me it is a little stressful. I am always worried he isn't getting enough. Plus, I can't seem to ever get enough water in my system. I am ALWAYS thirsty. It is good that I always have water in front of me, but it also means more bathroom breaks.

My sister Nicole is coming from Utah this weekend, and I am excited to spend some time with her. She is my best friend, and I haven't seen her since last July. We talk all the time on the phone, but it is always nice to be able to spend time with them in person. I think she is a little more excited than I am though, because she will have no children with her. We will see how her husband does with four kids all by his lonesome.

I am excited for Easter this year, and I am also looking forward to another wonderful conference. I am not sure if we get it on t.v. out here like we did in Arizona. I doubt it, and so that means that we will probably be in the church building, and I will have to try to listen and keep an infant and a toddler quiet. Thank heavens for the conference issue of the Ensign.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful St. Patrick's day, and Easter season.

Pictures! Pictures!

My Rant

Well everyone now you don't have to hear me talk about being pregnant anymore. Yeah! Now I will probably be talking about baby stuff. Oh well. Cameron did a good job getting a post on the blog and taking pictures. I don't have any pictures of me at the hospital with Emma, so I wanted to make sure I had pictures this time around. The nurses at the hospital were great though, because they encouraged Cam to take a lot of pictures during the C-Section. I am still recovering, and it makes me squeamish to look at my incision, but it looks good.

I have to talk a little of how my C-Section went. I slept amazingly well the night before. I think it was because I knew that there was an end in sight. I didn't really get nervous until they told me to put the hospital gown on. When I got in the operating room, I was even more nervous. They got me in place to give me the spinal, and she couldn't get it in my spine. She kept getting it off to the side. After what seemed like an hour, she had someone else come in and give it to me. He got it on the first try. I now have a really good bruise on my back. Well, my doctor was amazing. She was talking to me, and just so ubeat the whole time. I got really nauseated when they were sewing me up, and I told the anatesiologist about it. Now this my sound gross, but I think it is interesting. She said that when they are sewing up your fatty tissue layer, it makes you sick. She kept peeking over the sheet, and as soon as she said they were done with that part, I was no longer felt nauseated. I think that is pretty cool. Anyways, things went well and that is all I could have asked for.

Tuesday was the magical day of my release from the hospital. I was about ready to go completely mad. You can only take so much of a hospital bed and food. I will admit though that it is nice having someone wait on you. I wanted to go home on Monday, but Brooks had a high bilirubin level, and he had lost 11 ounces in the hospital. We had to supplement him a few times, but my milk came in on Monday morning, so he ate like there was no tomorrow. On Tuesday his bilirubin was lower, and he had gained 3 ounces in one day. This baby loves to eat. It is a blessing and a curse at the same time. I am glad though that he is such a great nurser.

So the nurse came in Tuesday morning and asked me how long it would take for me to have my things together. I was a little taken back, but then she said how the weather was so horrible and they wanted all of their new moms to get home before the weather got worse. I was thinking to myself "I am sure the weather can't be that bad". Then I looked out the window. There was already about 3 inches of snow on the ground. Now you have to understand Missouri. They stink at shoveling and plowing the roads. I guess they just don't have the man power or something. By the time we left the hospital, we could barely get out of the parking lot. It then took us over an hour to get home. There were cars all over the sides of the roadways. I told Cameron that I was glad we had a bigger car. Our Grand Am that we had would have never gotten us home. I am glad that we made it safe though, and I was able to make it up our steps to our house. Today there is hardly any snow on the ground. That's Missouri weather for ya.

Emma is doing okay. She pretty much just ignores the baby. She is acting out though. She is taking full advantage of the fact that I can't force her to do things. She just goes limp, and I have to have Cameron come to the rescue. It is going to take some adjusting, but it will turn out alright in the end.

So I also think it is interesting that the majority of people that voted on my poll like the Samoan girl scout cookies. I personally like the Do-Si-Does the best.

Well We Did It.....

Or Brit did anyway. I pretty much just sat there and kept my hands to myself. I am sorry to interrupt this fantastic and entertaining blog but this is not Brit. It's Cam. I have been assigned to make this post since the wonderful and BEAUTIFUL Brittany is resting in the hospital. I am pleased to announce that Brooks Frederick Owens was born at 11:02 am on Friday, February 29th. He weighed in at a whopping 8lbs thus whipping the boy born just after him by 1/2 a pound. That's my boy!! He measured 20 1/2 in. long. Alright, enough of my witty banter. I know what you all came to see so here he is.
